Are we allowed to think of our own joy during these difficult times?
Yes!
We’re all connected—when one of us is uplifted so are our sisters and brothers. When our personal darkness is reflected in the world’s turmoil, it’s vital to keep on praying, doing mitzvos, and seeking light.
Maintaining the hope and belief that spiritual joy will prevail in trying times is an important part of the Jewish spiritual path.
One of the most joyful mitzvos that is central to many aspects of living a Jewish life, is marriage. Building a warm Jewish home and family, one in which happiness shines, is something most of us naturally gravitate to.
From The Straits, Into Holiness
During the past three weeks as we moved toward Tisha B’av, the saddest day on the calendar, perhaps it was a challenge to maintain a positive outlook. After all, it’s all too easy to see what we lack.
This is why it’s good to keep in mind that one of the most unusual and happiest Jewish holidays, Tu B’av, falls just a few days after the fast of Tisha B’av, and it’s something to look forward to.
The Talmud tells us that on Tu B’av, the 15th of Av, girls from all the tribes would dress in white and dance in the vineyards of Jerusalem. Every male who was unmarried would go and choose a wife (assuming she accepted him!) from among the dancers.
Tu B’av is one of the most intriguing days of the Jewish year, and many couples celebrate engagements and weddings on this day. (With Hashem’s help you’ll be celebrating your own, soon.)
The past few months, my husband Moshe and I have been busy behind the scenes creating BreslovMatch, a program designed to help Jewish man and women meet their soul mates. We hope to officially launch BreslovMatch and chose Tu B’av, this coming Monday, August 11.
BreslovMatch will not be an online dating site. Each and every introduction will, with Hashem’s assistance, be personally suggested my husband and me (possibly with the help of an assistant.) In order to make the program “minimally invasive” you will be responsible for checking references and appropriate follow-up. (Details will follow on August 11th.)
Jewish men and women of every age and background with an interest in Breslov Chassidus will be welcome to join. We want to do our best to make BreslovMatch free of charge or very low cost so that everyone who wants to, is able to participate.
