Honesty and its corresponding search for truth, may very well be the first step on the road to true understanding. Simplicity, joy, and faith, other attributes the Rebbe stressed, are all, to a large extent, dependent on deep honesty.
Faith without truth is not really faith but superstition, a shallow belief unworthy of our minds or souls. Truth without faith is simply impossible, as the highest truth a human being can engage in is the realization that God Is One.
“Faith depends upon truth”, says the Rebbe.
