Healing A Fallen Heart

“The main thing the Compassionate Creator wants is the heart.”—Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (LM II, 44)

The heart is the site of “fallen loves”. “Fallen loves” are one’s desires for harmful, soul-destroying things.

How did we ever fall out of love with Holy truth and fall into love with fiery and destructive (or dark and cold) passions? When we forgot that the heart is the seat of judgment, that it has the power to help us choose wisely and well.*

How do we heal a fallen heart, whether of cold stone or scorching fire? Learn Breslov Chassidus and practice hisbodedus, prayerful-meditation.

Ask the Compassionate Creator for His help in your hisbodedus.

Ask the Source of All, Who Loves Truth and Harmony, to guide you as you talk about who you really are, what your choices and actions have been until now. Ask for guidance from the Holy One so that you are able to reflect on your life in such a way as to be able to gain clarity on what is truly a good direction for you to take.*

Open up and allow the tenderness of your heart to reveal itself, for God will reciprocate and take away your heart of stone and give you one of flesh. (See Ezekiel 36:26).

*The knowledge we’ve gleaned from the Holy teachings enables our mind to help guide our heart towards manifesting its true nature, that of pure and holy love.

Based on commentary on Teztaveh (LM II, 5:13) from Rebbe Nachman’s Torah, BRI.
