Did Rebbe Nachman say following and observing Torah Judaism is optional? Rebbe Nachman was very concerned with our inner growth and service, and less so with the external details. Yet, he and his followers observed the Torah meticulously and with tremendous piety and he encourages us to observe the halachot (Jewish law) in all their details. In fact, he recommends that people make a daily study of the Shulchan Aruch, the Codes of Jewish Law. So how did his message get muddled, and how can we find clarity?
