The Radiant Torah Pinchas
At the end of the previous portion, Parshat Balak, Pinchas slays Zimri and Cosbi. In this Parsha we discuss Pinchas’ action in light of modern ideas about fanaticism vs. the deeper understanding that the Tzaddikim give us. Does Jewish “fundamentalism” exist?
Why do we eat cholent on Shabbat?
We also explore vengeance/revenge as well as judgment, and some of Rebbe Nachman’s profound insights about judgment from Likutey Moharan, Lesson 241 (not Tinyana) as well as the Baal Shem Tov’s teaching about judging others and ourselves, and giving ourselves an innocent verdict!
We also talk about the concept of the goral, the lottery, and why the Holy Land of Israel was portioned out to the 12 Shevatim via lottery rather than Moshe assigning the the tribes portions via an announcement.
Also, we discuss some of the inspiring traits of Tzelafchad’s daughters and how their love for Hashem and Eretz Yisrael has a message for us today.
We explore radiant insights on the psychospiritual messages of the parsha from Rebbe Nachman. We’ll also explore ideas from the Baal Shem Tov, Reb Noson, the Zohar Hakodesh, Arizal, the Rambam, the Ramban, the Ramchal, the Midrash and more.

The Radiant Torah Balak
Antisemitism simmers beneath the tale of King Balak who hired his old buddy Balaam to go out and curse the Jews. Balaam was the greatest non-Jewish prophet, yet he used his talents for witchcraft and immorality. Balaam wanted to do evil for most of his life, and that is what he chose. Eventually, Hashem forced Balaam to use his talents for good. What can we learn about free will from Balaam?
Balaam was humiliated by his talking donkey. What can we learn about humility from Balaam?
Balaam was forced to use his speech for good. What can we learn about the power of speech from Balaam?
Hashem Tzaddik. Hashem is righteous and shows us how to see the good in each other, just as He showed Balaam that He only saw the good in his Children, the Jewish people.
